JOSE G. ARIAS
Director, Operations, Health and Medical Systems
Jose Arias is a highly accomplished individual with a distinguished career in the military and medical fields. Jose Arias was born at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington D.C. and spent most of his childhood in South America and Florida. Jose joined the Army in 2002 and served multiple combat deployments in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF), undertaking complex and full spectrum dynamic missions in strategic environments in various countries around the world. Jose also received extensive surgical training as a first assist in trauma, neuro, and open-heart surgery from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
After nine years as an enlisted Soldier, Jose was accepted into the Green to Gold Commissioning Program and was the Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Central Florida (Orlando).
Upon commissioning, Jose served as a platoon leader in the famed 82nd Airborne Division, an elite division that specializes in joint forcible entry operations. He then served as the Executive Officer for the 541st Airborne Forward Surgical Team which provided forward deployed damage control resuscitation and damage control surgery to stabilize casualties on the battlefield.
Jose was hand-picked as the first Commander for the Army Trauma Training Detachment located at Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, Florida. He was directly responsible for overseeing all Army Forward Resuscitative Surgical Teams rotating through the Trauma Training Program. Through collaborative efforts, Jose carried out University of Miami’s Gordon Center for Research and Congressional initiatives for “Rescue Task Force Concept,” a program in support of Law Enforcement Officers, Fire Departments, and Fire Rescue (EMS) teams across the State of Florida who are assigned and deployed together in a warm zone to provide rapid extraction of victims during a violent or hostile event. In addition to being the Commander, he also served as the Lead Operations Liaison and Instructor to the White House Medical Unit, U.S. Army Special Operations Command and Army Forward Resuscitative Surgical Teams during their rotations at Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, Florida.
Jose was subsequently selected to serve as the Group Deputy Surgeon and Medical Operations Officer for 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-10 (CJSOTF-10). He planned, resourced, and executed complex lethal and non-lethal multinational operations in support of multiple Geographic Combatant Commands. These operations spanned multiple continents and combat zones and included joint elite U.S. Military Special Operations Units (Army Special Forces, Naval Special Warfare Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, Joint Special Operations Command, Marine Forces Special Operations Command), NATO Special Operations Forces, NGOs, and allied partners conducting unconventional warfare, counterterrorism, and a myriad of other national security missions.
Jose lives in Colorado Springs with his family. His hobbies include mountain biking, snowboarding, wake surfing, hiking, lifting weights, trail running, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
