KEVIN STRAIT
Corporate Counsel
Kevin Strait’s career weaves engineering and law in a seamless combination; he brings decades of technical and legal expertise to STAR HARBOR™.
Kevin founded an industrial design and automation company while attending Virginia Commonwealth University School of Engineering. He designed radiation detection equipment, industrial lighting controls, building access controls, and power distribution systems for military TOC and SCIF use.
Kevin later joined Afton Chemical Corporation’s New Product Development group. He led a team of research scientists and engineers to develop advanced technologies for Shell, BP, Exxon, PetroCanada, Phillips66, and SK Energy. He secured decades-long contracts and joint ventures with Ford, GM, Volkswagen, and Daimler. He developed a portfolio of products and patents with over three hundred million in annual sales. He traveled the world to advise the automotive industry on manufacturing techniques and new product development. The car you drive today likely has at least one of Kevin’s patented technologies inside.
With decades of contract negotiation and patent prosecution experience, Kevin transitioned into the practice of law after graduating from Regent University School of Law. As managing partner of Anzen Legal Group, he supervised staff attorneys providing general business litigation, intellectual property protection, technology licensing, M&A, and corporate structure formation.
Kevin earned his wings and became an instructor at KOFP’s flight school. Teaching ground school and developing curriculum kindled his excitement for aerospace law and policy. Drawing on his experience as a panel attorney with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Kevin is an influential leader in Colorado’s aviation and aerospace sector. He works closely with the Colorado Space Business Roundtable to support Colorado’s aerospace industry.
Kevin joined STAR HARBOR as Corporate Counsel to develop a clear legal framework for the future. He strengthens STAR HARBOR’s mission with a focus on policy, IP protection, corporate finance, and liability protections. He brings decades of experience in engineering, aviation, contract negotiation, finance, and litigation to STAR HARBOR’s crew.
Kevin’s charity work includes serving as the President of the Board of Directors of the Turning Point Center for Youth and Family Development in Fort Collins, Colorado and Greeley, Colorado. He is a frequent guest speaker and guest lecturer for college classes on law, aerospace, and business strategy.
In his spare time, Kevin can usually be found fixing up an old Jeep or mentoring startup companies through the Rockies Venture Club.
